Why She Cares: The Battlestar Galactica actress is such a doting adoptive and foster mom to seven rescue cats that her husband e-mails her kitty-grams every morning when she is on location. “My dream is to have my own shelter,” Helfer, 35, says. “Rescue animals just seem to inherently understand that you’ve helped them.”
Check out Tricia in kitty heaven at Kitten Rescue, Los Angeles as she poses for the People Magazine photo shoot.
Tricia just wrapped filming on A Beginner’s Guide to Endings in Niagra Falls alongside J.K. Simmons, Scott Caan and Harvey Keitel who replaced Dennis Hopper.

Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer stage ‘Battlestar’ takeover of CBS comedies
by: Maureen Ryan
I’ve put the photo and the episode summary below in case you don’t want to see the circumstances of the appearance by Sackhoff, who is most famous for playing Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on “Battlestar Galactica” and is a series regular on the upcoming season of “24.”
Her “Big Bang” scene promises to be pretty fun. One of the show’s characters is pretty much living the fanboy dream in that episode.
Sackhoff isn’t the only “Battlestar” alum to appear on CBS this month: On the Nov. 16 “Two and a Half Men,” Tricia Helfer plays Gail, Chelsea’s hot college roommate, who comes for a visit after a bad breakup. Charlie (Charlie Sheen) is pretty much like Baltar on “Battlestar”: So many hot ladies around make him a little mental.
Another Helfer photo and the Sackhoff picture are below.
Here is summary of “The Vengeance Formulation,” the Nov. 23 episode of “The Big Bang Theory”: “After he’s humiliated on National Public Radio, Sheldon vows to destroy Kripke, while Wolowitz tries not to destroy his new relationship with Bernadette. “Battlestar Galactica” star Katee Sackhoff appears as herself, offering Wolowitz some relationship advice.”
And what an intimate setting Wolowitz and Sackhoff have for their conversation! As “Big Bang Theory” co-creator Chuck Lorre told USA Today, “We should all have a conscience that looks like Katee Sackhoff.”
CBS does appear to like the “Battlestar” folks. Michael Trucco also appeared on “Big Bang,” as did a Cylon toaster recently (check out this post for a funny clip of Sheldon making Cylon toast).
At this rate I’m hoping that Edward James Olmos puts in an appearance at McLaren’s, the bar on “How I Met Your Mother.” Who’s with me?
Check out Tricia alongside Katee Sackhoff and Tahmoh Penikett in the November 2 issue of TV Guide as they pose for a quick picture as they took part in the AIDS Walk Los Angeles on October 18th.
Former BSG costars Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer and Tahmoh Penikett reunited on October 18 for AIDS Walk Los Angles. “Katee was the one who instigated us doing the walk and organized the team and T-shirts,” Helfer tells TV Guide Magazine. “She personally raised a ton of money.” As for that crown Helfer is sporting? It was given to Sackhoff in recognition of being a large-donation earner. “Being modest, she didn’t want to wear it,” adds Helfer, who will guest star on Two and a Half Men November 16 (Sackhoff pops up on The Big Bang Theory November 23). “I saw it and definitely wanted to wear it. It took me the first mile or two to realize what the crown was for and that I shouldn’t actually have it on my head, but by then I quite liked it!”
